As a painter, unfamiliar scenery draws me in. There is something about the slant of mysterious hills or the unfamiliar curve of a stream that inspires me. I enjoy exploring these scenes on canvas through unique and vibrant color combinations.
My goal in each piece is to create a scene that the viewer feels they can step into. In an era of heightened world events, finding forms of escape is important whether physically or mentally. I work to create paintings that fulfill this for both painter and viewer.
I received a BFA in Graphic Design from the University of Minnesota in 2019. In 2022, I published an illustrated book of poetry created in collaboration with Minneapolis author Tom Beck. Most recently, my work was displayed in two exhibitions comprised of Minnesota artists including MSP Arts and Culture's Chroma Exhibition (2022) which showcased artists from Minneapolis' award-winning NE Arts District. During the 2020 - 2021 quarantine, I was largely inspired by the romantic landscapes of the French countryside. This led me to apply to and be accepted as an artist in residence at Chateau d’Orquevaux in the Champagne-Ardenne region of France for September 2023.
